Its been so long since my last blog entry.. I, in a way “checked out” for a few months. My beloved friend and companion, love puppy Kramer was diagnosed with cancer and passed away on my birthday (Febraury 7th) it blindsided me and took ahold of me like I couldn’t have imagined, all I could do was be with him and take care of him the best I could. We saw three amazing doctors through out his illness, an oncologist, a western vet and a holistic vet, all who cared for him and helped me care for him till the day he died. We didn’t hold on to him too long but be didn’t give up on him too soon either. He let us know when he ready to go and we listened. My dog Kramer taught me to be a better human, and I will always love him and will always be grateful to him for that.
Being a pet photographer I am lucky to have many pictures of my love and I often look at them. Sometimes I cry and sometimes I laugh, it is priceless. I feel so blessed to have known and loved him and have been spoiled by him. When I look at the photos of Kramer I get to remember and it’s almost as if he’s back for that instant and I am so grateful for that, so grateful in fact that I really want to extend this gift to others.
If you or someone you know has a dog that is ailing and due to the economic crisis can’t spare the extra expense of hiring a professional pet photographer. Please email me, tell me your circumstance and if you are in the Los Angeles area (or can get here) I will shoot your dog for free. I will try to do at least 5 shoots. Sabrina,
I am so sorry for your lost, but I think your very generous gift is a wonder way of honoring Kramer. I lost my Weim, Bella almost 8 months ago. She was special needs dog who had holistic vets, specialists and an one amazing surgeon. Bella was thirteen and half and beat cancer two other times before developing it again for a 3rd time. She went everywhere with us and we loved dearly and will always miss her.
Things will get better, but unfortunately you are in the process of going through your year of firsts, just like me. A good friend told me it would be the “firsts” that make it the hardest – the first time you come home with out them, the first time you don’t have to rush home after work, the first holiday, the first…the list goes one, but all this makes you realize that shared your life with your lifetime dog and how lucky you both were to have found each other. I just wanted to wish you peace. I know Kramer will always be missed and never forgotten.

i read about your loss on dog art, and my thoughts have definitely been with you. i loved what you said, that knowing kramer made you a better human. that right there is what it’s all about–all of this; the real reason we have dogs, the photography, everything.
i think that’s so cool that you’ve offered up your services for other people in that situation; what a great way to honor kramer’s memory.

I have not visited your blog is some time, but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I hope that in the past few months, the pain has lessened a little. I can’t imagine. I haven’t lost a dog since I’ve been an adult and had my own, but I’m pretty sure I will need some major therapy when it does happen! I think it’s amazing you want to hep others remember their dogs with photos, and very generous of you to shoot them for no charge. I bet Kramer would have loved that!
